OUR PROJECTS
Pedriatic care

Our support works alongside other projects such as the longstanding ‘orthopaedic club foot program’ organised by a team of highly skilled and motivated German doctors who visit the hospital multiple team per year to perform often complex orthopaedic paediatric surgeries.
During the rest of the year, orthopaedic and general surgeries are covered by our Tanzanian surgeons who work hard to provide a high quality care. For orthopaedic surgeries, our staff works together with partner Sign Fracture Care, to ensure the use of high standard orthopaedic treatment.
We like to connect with local projects to improve our care for the children. In collaboration with IBES (https://ibes.co.tz/), trainees in preschool teaching, organised for example a visit to the paediatric department offering fun and plays to the kids. They also constructed the playground next to the paediatric wing.
During monthly ‘kids clubs’ organised by local health care staff, children with chronic illnesses or children living in families with health problems learn through games, share stories or just enjoy being a child for an afternoon.
We contribute to the cost of treatment for children under 12 whose families can’t afford care.
The hospital’s social worker helps assess needs and encourages enrolment in local health insurance schemes — with the long-term goal of reducing external dependency.
Over the years we have helped many families who’s children needed care through outpatient clinic or through inpatient care -by admission on the paediatric ward. Where needed, we contribute half of the costs of treatment because we believe that health care is not a privilege of those who can afford it, but it is a basic human right.
