OUR STORY

From one promise to a long-term collaboration.

In 2008, Tanya Van Braekel - a paediatric nurse- arrived at Nkoaranga Lutheran Hospital and was immediately struck by the dedication of her local colleagues and by the limited resources they had to work with.

One particular patient, a young girl named Faridji, left a lasting impression. Her story became the silent spark behind Nkoaranga Watoto.

Over time, what began as a heartfelt promise grew into something more structured: a non-profit organisation committed to support the hospital’s pediatric care in close dialogue with the people on the ground.

This story isn’t about us — it’s about a partnership that continues to evolve, quietly and respectfully.

MISSION

We aim to support high quality and accessible care for children and families in Northern Tanzania.

We do this by contributing to local priorities in health, education and infrastructure — always in collaboration with the hospital and local professionals.
