OUR PROJECTS
Infrastructure & Innovation
We help with urgent infrastructure needs that may otherwise be out of reach
Our work focuses on practical, life-saving improvements that strengthen the hospital’s ability to care for its community. From essential equipment and reliable energy sources to training and specialised departments, every investment is guided by real needs on the ground.
Over the years, these efforts have grown through close collaboration with local teams and international partners. Together, we build sustainable solutions that support quality healthcare, today and for generations to come.

Often collaborative efforts with other partners are needed.
In 2016/17 the hospital received a whole new electric wiring system, transformer and a brand new digital X-ray machine with the support of partners from Wilwaukee.
The hospital itself invested in a digital patient filing system.
The maternity wing construction was completed in 2024. The new building is open and fully functioning thanks to the funds of German partners. Our organisation delivered the specialist in gynaecology - a beautiful example of how partners could and should work together.
We believe in doing what’s needed, not what’s flashy.
An overview of our latest innovations:
2011
Construction and opening of the pediatric unit.
2012
Purchase and installation of a generator.
2013
Purchase of a Land Cruiser and conversion into an ambulance.
2014
Upscaling of the lab by purchasing several new lab supplies and providing further training.
2016
Physiotherapy department launch (with funds of ‘Wereld Missie Hulp’).
2017
Renovation of the men's ward (complete roof, gutters, painting, windows and doors where needed).
2017
In close collaboration with Humasol - installation of solar panels to provide power for the men's, women's, and children's wards improving safety during night shifts and power outages (https://www.humasol.be/projects/zonnepanelen-voor-ziekenhuis).
2018/19
The emphasis on scholarships grows. The organisation starts the support of doctor in his further education as master in gynaecology. Meanwhile it becomes clear that the maternity wing is outdated and the building is dangerous - time to make plans for a new construction.
2020
COVID strikes hard, also in Tanzania. Funds are provided to assist the local population with protective masks, info sessions and food supply during outreach. 111 packages (containing buckets, soap, masks, food and information about COVID and its prevention measures) were delivered to 498 children/adults in area. The hospital staff received funds to buy PPE (personal protective equipment).
2021
The scholarships support continues, our hospital administrator receives funds to complete his one year training as a master in hospital administration.
2022
The hospital welcomes the newly graduated gynaecologist and plans are still discussed concerning construction of a new maternity wing.
2023
The ambulance is involved in a serious road traffic accident. Our driver is seriously hurt, but luckely recovers - the ambulance is a total loss (or so we think). We use funds for the major repairs that ensure a fully renovated ambulance. Transport is covered again, but the generator needs replacement.
2024
A long searched candidate for a master in paediatrics is found and starts her education at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical University.
2025
Discussions and plans are made regarding the plan to buy a new generator, scholarships are followed up (see section scholarships).
